Zagreb, October 10th<\/strong> - The International Conference \"Investing in Human Capital for Economic Growth\"<\/strong> was held today in the organization of the Foreign Investors Council and the Representative Office of the European Commission in Croatia.<\/p>

The aim of the conference was to gather experts from these areas to discuss the current labor market situation and assess the need for adequate workforce in light of possible investments and accelerating economic growth.<\/p>

The opening of the conference, whose special guest was Jean-Eric Paquet<\/strong>, Deputy Secretary-General of the European Commission, was attended by the Head of the European Commission Representation in Croatia H.E. Branko Bari\u010devi\u0107<\/strong>, Minister of Labor and Pension System in Croatia Mr. Marko Pavi\u0107<\/strong> and Minister of Science and Education Ms. Bla\u017eenka Divjak<\/strong>.<\/p>

After introductory speeches by the organizer, Jean-Eric Paquet<\/strong> addressed the audience by referring to the importance of human capital and the labor market situation in the European Union. He has emphasized that any investment in human capital, at national and EU level, directly affects the economic and social development of the country. He further noted that Croatia is the leading country in the European Union by keeping young people in schools until the first qualification for employment on the labor market; only 2.8%<\/strong> of them leave primary education earlier.<\/p>

Thereafter, there was a round table attended by Mr. Marko Pavi\u0107<\/strong>, Minister of Labor and Pension System, accompanied by Mr. Paquet and Minister of Science and Education Ms. Bla\u017eenka Divjak<\/strong> as Government Representatives, Mladen Fogec<\/strong>, President of the the Foreign Investors Council in Croatia and CEO of Siemens Croatia, Matija \u017dulj<\/strong>, Executive Director of Agrivi and Bojan Polji\u010dak<\/strong>, Director of Adecco in front of the Business Community.<\/p>

In addition to the representatives of the Croatian Government and government institutions and leading investors, the conference attracted a number of representatives of the diplomatic corps, media and business community from Croatia and abroad.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
