CEMEX has installed and commissioned a new analyzers for the measurement of emissions and new meteorological instruments on the automatic measuring stations for monitoring air quality in Kastel Sućurac, Solin and Split.
CEMEX in 2003 during seting up three automatic measuring stations for monitoring air quality invested four million kuna, and spended significant amounts to the regular maintenance performed by authorized local company, as well as the equipment supplier. Processing data from monitoring stations and making regular reports on air quality in accordance with current legislation, conducted the Institute for Public Health of Split-Dalmatia County, which processed data to the competent authorities and the public.
To meet the requirements of the European Union regarding the protection of air quality, the company amended its existing equipment with European standards by purchasing new instruments for measuring the concentration of sulfur oxides, nitrogen oxides, and meteorological parameters. The entire project investment is 800 thousand, and installed equipment will provide full information and they are consistent with the European criteria of air quality monitoring.
