A new edition of the White Book 2020 "Competitiveness has no alternative" presented in a hybrid environment

Foreign Investors Council in Croatia (FICC) in cooperation with the consulting company Deloitte presented today a new edition of the White Book 2020 "Competitiveness has no alternative" by Velimir Šonje. The presentation was held in a hybrid format with a limited number of participants (speakers) in the audience, while the general public had the opportunity to follow it through the YouTube and Facebook platform of the Foreign Investors Council in Croatia.

In addition to the host Mladen Fogec , President of the Foreign Investors Council in Croatia, the presentation was also attended by Zdravko Marić , Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the Republic of Croatia, Martina Drvar , Vice Governor of the Croatian National Bank, Bojan Batinić , Director of the Internationalization Directorate at the Ministry of the Economy and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Croatia, and other distinguished stakeholders.
In his introductory speech, the President of the Foreign Investors Council Mladen Fogec expressed satisfaction with another relevant edition of the White Book and stressed the importance of changing and nurturing the business climate that encourages the development of new foreign investment in Croatia.
Minister Marić thanked the Foreign Investors and praised the constructive discussion and the White Book, a document that analytically and constructively presents the current situation, and puts the necessary changes and reforms in the foreground. He pointed out that the White Book at all levels indicated what would be most important when the pandemic begins to subside - a "sprint" start at the macro and micro level of the state and companies to start the recovery of the Croatian economy affected by the crisis.
In her presentation, the Vice Governor of the Croatian National Bank Martina Drvar pointed out three conditions of public policies necessary to ensure the continuation of investments in our country: adequate communication, optimism and transparency. The relationship between investors and the community in which they invest rests precisely on these foundations, as does every relationship we want to build and develop. As a prime example of the same, she pointed out the calculation of the Covid score on the FINA Portal MEASURES, which is necessary for the supervisory assessment of banks in financing those of their clients whose business was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. As part of the program, a panel discussion was held on the topic "Competitiveness and investments that drive economic growth" , which was attended by Mladen Fogec , President of the Foreign Investors Council in Croatia, Bojan Batinić , Director of the Directorate for Internationalization at the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of the Republic of Croatia, Victoria Boklag , CEO of United Group and Burak Baykan , Representative of Dogus Group. The panel discussion was moderated by Vedrana Jelušić Kašić, a partner in Deloitte's financial consulting department.
The White Book has been published regularly since 2013 and is the first document of its kind in which members of the Foreign Investors Council in Croatia (FICC) give their views on the current environment for foreign investments and constructive recommendations that encourage positive changes in the Croatian business environment.
The new issue edition titled "Competitiveness has no alternative" emphasizes that the speed of decision-making and investment business processes directly contributes to competitiveness, accelerates development, stops emigration, stimulates return and attracts people who can contribute to the development of our country with ideas, capital and productivity.
